Year 5

This term, our topic will be ‘World War Two: Friend or Foe?’. We are certain that the children are going to enjoy what we have planned for them. Our class book will be Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll which we will be using as a stimulus for our own narratives. Children will be focusing on how to build suspense in their writing and building on the skills they learnt in Autumn term.

In Art, we will be exploring propaganda posters and our Mini Chef will be linked to our learning on rationing.

Our focus for Science this term is on investigative skills and we are looking forward to a range of practical activities.

In Maths, we will be focusing on perimeter, area and volume.

In RE, we will be learning about how Christians try to live their lives in a way that reflects their values.

In PD, we will be thinking about our dreams and goals for the future.

In Indoor PE, we will be starting Indoor Volleyball. For Outdoor PE, our topic is Tag Rugby. The children really enjoyed the coaching from Blackheath Rugby last term so we are looking forward to continuing this sport.
