Year 3
In English we will read non fiction books to find out information about Ancient Egypt. We will write portal action stories based on the text ‘The Time Slip Scarab’ and use drama and role play to retell stories about the Egyptian gods. We will read a discussion text and write our own ‘for or against’ argument for questions such as, “Should
pets have been buried with their Pharaoh owners?”
In Maths we will recall previous times tables (3, 4, 6 and 8) and learn how to measure , compare, add and subtract
using lengths (m/cm/mm); mass (kg/g); volume/capacity. We will improve our column addition and subtraction skills and learn how to solve money word problems.
In Science we will learn what a plant needs to grow well and plant and tend to our own seeds and learn the names of parts of a flower and label a diagram of a flower correctly. We will understand the life cycle of a flowering plant. We will also investigate how water travels through a plant.
In Music we will be focusing on using our voice to vocalise rhythms and patterns. Through Hieroglyphics we will listen to Pitch high and low/up and down, and ostinato patterns.
In PE we will learn an Egyptian dance and then adapt it to create our own Egyptian dances for Indoor PE. For Outdoor PE we will practice our running technique, learning how to sprint effectively.
This term in Spanish, we will be learning how to say and write parts of the body and face. We will learn songs to help us remember the new vocabulary. We will verbally describe ourselves and others and go on to write this as statements.
